On certain vehicles, when the vehicle is parked in cold temperatures for a prolonged period of time, the relay inside the electronic brake booster may freeze. This may result in increased brake pedal effort, which could increase stopping distances, potentially resulting in a crash causing injury and/or damage property. Correction: An Electric Vehicle certified dealer will reprogram the electrically-driven Intelligent Brake Control Unit software. Note: If this condition were present, a brake warning lamp would illuminate when the vehicle is first started to alert the operator of the issue.
The wording above is the department's own, as it stood in the monthly file this site last read. Vehicle counts are the sum of the counts published for each make and model the recall covers. To act on a recall, use the official notice: Transport Canada recall 2016096.
