On certain vehicles, the backup power supply feed for the ignition switch may have been incorrectly connected at the time of production. In the event of a loss of main battery power and an engine stop with the transmission out of park and the electric parking brake not applied, without the backup power supply the transmission would not be able to shift to Park ( P ). This could result in the vehicle being inoperable without any way of keeping it stationary other than applying the brakes which, under certain circumstances, could increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will adapt the wiring harness and update the Software Calibration Number ( SCN ) coding.
The wording above is the department's own, as it stood in the monthly file this site last read. Vehicle counts are the sum of the counts published for each make and model the recall covers. To act on a recall, use the official notice: Transport Canada recall 2016156.
