Transport Canada carries this recall as 2016626, dated 14 December 2016. The American register carries the same defect as campaign 16V908, dated 16 December 2016. They are the same defect because the manufacturer filed both under one internal campaign code, 16274.

The two registers are 2 days apart: the Canadian entry is dated first, the American one second.

These are the dates each register records against its own notice. They are separate administrative acts in two countries, recorded by two authorities under two sets of rules, and this page does not claim that one caused the other or that owners in either country were contacted on those days. What it shows is that the same manufacturer campaign reached the two registers on different dates.

Read the American notice 16V908, including every earlier version of its wording this site holds. The Canadian register explains why the manufacturer code is published there and what that makes possible. Canada and America sets every matched pair side by side.

On certain travel trailers, the hinge assemblies of the rear cargo door may have been manufactured incorrectly. The weld on the hinge assembly had been ground down during manufacturing to ensure clearance when installed on a door. The grinding of the weld weakened the joint, and as a result, if the door were to be opened and the hinge assembly were to fail, the door could come down with more force than normal, increasing the risk of injury to a person standing nearby. Correction: Dealers will inspect the hinge assembly and replace as necessary.

The wording above is the department's own, as it stood in the monthly file this site last read. Vehicle counts are the sum of the counts published for each make and model the recall covers. To act on a recall, use the official notice: Transport Canada recall 2016626.
