On certain vehicles, the front wheel bearing retaining rings might not have been seated correctly and may extend from the steering knuckles. This could cause the retaining rings to potentially move out of position, which could result in the wheel bearing moving in its pressed position while the brake disk is held by the brake caliper. In the event of a failure, a wheel could separate, which could affect vehicle control and increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will check the retaining ring position and correct their position if necessary.

The wording above is the department's own, as it stood in the monthly file this site last read. Vehicle counts are the sum of the counts published for each make and model the recall covers. To act on a recall, use the official notice: Transport Canada recall 2017503.
