On certain vehicles equipped with factory-installed methane detectors, the sensor wiring circuit protection may be inadequate for the wiring gauge. The wiring harness may also be improperly routed. As a result, a short could occur and the circuit protection could fail to protect the electrical system from damage, potentially resulting in a fire. This could increase the risk of injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Sensor wiring routing will be inspected and modified, and a 3 amp fuse installed in place or the original 10 amp fuse.
The wording above is the department's own, as it stood in the monthly file this site last read. Vehicle counts are the sum of the counts published for each make and model the recall covers. To act on a recall, use the official notice: Transport Canada recall 2018131.
