On certain vehicles built on a Freightliner chassis, the rear-mounted Power Distribution Module (PDM) may have a manufacturing defect that could cause intermittent functioning of the rear marker, brake lights or left turn signal. Without brake lights, a following motorist may not to recognize that a vehicle ahead is braking, increasing the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Daimler Trucks North American (DTNA) will inspect and repair the PDM as necessary.
The wording above is the department's own, as it stood in the monthly file this site last read. Vehicle counts are the sum of the counts published for each make and model the recall covers. To act on a recall, use the official notice: Transport Canada recall 2018615.
