On certain vehicles, the locking status of the steering coupling may not have been verified during assembly. If not correctly locked, the mechanical connection between the steering wheel and steering rack could loosen while driving, potentially resulting in complete loss of steering, increasing the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will inspect the steering coupling and lock it, if necessary.
The wording above is the department's own, as it stood in the monthly file this site last read. Vehicle counts are the sum of the counts published for each make and model the recall covers. To act on a recall, use the official notice: Transport Canada recall 2018685.
