Issue: rnOn certain motorcycles, a one-way battery vent valve (bleeder valve) was not installed when the motorcycle was built. As a result, water could enter the battery and cause a short circuit. rnrnSafety Risk: rnA short circuit could lead to injury and/or damage to property. rnrnCorrective Actions: rnThe company will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your motorcycle to a dealer to inspect the battery. If the vent valve is present, no action is required. If the vent valve is absent, the dealer must order a replacement battery and install the vent valve before returning to the owner. For unsold motorcycles, a battery vent valve will be installed prior to sale.

The wording above is the department's own, as it stood in the monthly file this site last read. Vehicle counts are the sum of the counts published for each make and model the recall covers. To act on a recall, use the official notice: Transport Canada recall 2021005.
