Transport Canada carries this recall as 2023018, dated 24 January 2023. The American register carries the same defect as campaign 23V022, dated 23 January 2023. They are the same defect because the manufacturer filed both under one internal campaign code, 23S02.

The two registers are 1 day apart: the American entry is dated first, the Canadian one second.

These are the dates each register records against its own notice. They are separate administrative acts in two countries, recorded by two authorities under two sets of rules, and this page does not claim that one caused the other or that owners in either country were contacted on those days. What it shows is that the same manufacturer campaign reached the two registers on different dates.

Read the American notice 23V022, including every earlier version of its wording this site holds. The Canadian register explains why the manufacturer code is published there and what that makes possible. Canada and America sets every matched pair side by side.

This recall was replaced by Transport Canada Recall No. 2023-288. rnrnIssue: rnOn certain vehicles equipped with a 360-degree camera, a software problem could cause the rearview camera image to not appear on the SYNC display screen. Canadian regulations require the rearview image to display when the transmission is shifted into reverse gear. rnrnSafety Risk: rnA rearview camera image that does not display could reduce a driver's ability to see behind the vehicle while backing up. This could increase the risk of a crash. rnrnCorrective Actions: rnFord will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to update the image processing module (IPMB) software.

The wording above is the department's own, as it stood in the monthly file this site last read. Vehicle counts are the sum of the counts published for each make and model the recall covers. To act on a recall, use the official notice: Transport Canada recall 2023018.
