Transport Canada carries this recall as 2023129, dated 13 March 2023. The American register carries the same defect as campaign 23V165, dated 10 March 2023. They are the same defect because the manufacturer filed both under one internal campaign code, 23C05.

The two registers are 3 days apart: the American entry is dated first, the Canadian one second.

These are the dates each register records against its own notice. They are separate administrative acts in two countries, recorded by two authorities under two sets of rules, and this page does not claim that one caused the other or that owners in either country were contacted on those days. What it shows is that the same manufacturer campaign reached the two registers on different dates.

Read the American notice 23V165, including every earlier version of its wording this site holds. The Canadian register explains why the manufacturer code is published there and what that makes possible. Canada and America sets every matched pair side by side.

Issue: rnOn certain vehicles, the software update that was installed by a Ford dealer during recall 22C27 (Transport Canada recall number 2022-636) may not be effective. As a result, a second repair is required. rnrnUnder certain conditions when the vehicle is operated in 4WD-Low (4L) mode, the rearview camera image could reappear on the display after shifting out of reverse. rnNote: This recall doesn't affect vehicles that received an over-the-air software update for the SYNC module as a part of recall 22C27. rnrnSafety Risk: rnA rearview camera image that displays when the vehicle is not in reverse may confuse or distract the driver. This could increase the risk of a crash. rnrnCorrective Actions: rnFord will notify owners by mail and send a wireless over-the-air software update for the SYNC module to each vehicle. Alternatively, you may schedule an appointment to have the update performed at a Ford dealership.

The wording above is the department's own, as it stood in the monthly file this site last read. Vehicle counts are the sum of the counts published for each make and model the recall covers. To act on a recall, use the official notice: Transport Canada recall 2023129.
