Issue: rnOn certain vehicles, the engine could fail. An engine failure could cause a loss of power to the wheels and/or an engine fire. rnNote: This recall only affects vehicles equipped with a 2.4 L MPI engine. Vehicles repaired under Kia service campaign SC037 (Transport Canada recall no. 2021-040) already have the updated software, and don't require this repair. rnrnSafety Risk: rnA sudden loss power to the wheels could increase the risk of a crash. An engine fire can create a risk of injury. rnrnCorrective Actions: rnKia will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to inspect and, if necessary, replace the engine. The dealer will also update the engine control module software.rnNote: Kia recommends that you should always follow the correct vehicle maintenance schedule, which is printed in the Owner's Manual. If you experience unusual engine noise, reduced power, or a check engine/oil warning light, Kia advises you to immediately visit a Kia dealership to have your vehicle diagnosed.
