Bmw R1100S in the other registers

This site holds seven national and European registers. Bmw R1100S is named on 5 Canadian notices. Those are separate campaigns, filed with separate authorities on their own schedules.

Nothing here says any of these is this notice in another country. A model recalled in one country is often recalled in another, in different words and at a different time, and the authorities do not cross-reference each other. Reading them together is the reason this site holds more than one register.

What the ministry says is wrong

ディーラーオプションとして販売されたハイマウントハンドルにおいて、ハンドル固定用 ロッキングタブに一部製造不良のものがあるため、そのままの状態で使用を続けると、固 定部が緩み、最悪の場合、当該ハンドルがフォークチューブから抜け出て、操縦不能に至 るおそれがある。

What is to be done about it

全車両、ロッキングタブの設計幅を確認する。なお、当該タブの幅が設計値以外のものは 修正し、クランプボルトを指定トルクで締め付ける。

The two passages above are quoted in Japanese because that is the language the ministry published them in. This site keeps the wording a register had when it was read, and does not translate a safety notice.

This site gathered the record, grouped it by notification number and set it in English around the ministry's own words; the notice itself is unaltered. CarsMultiverse is not the ministry and not a safety authority. To act on this notice, use the ministry's own document.

BMW elsewhere in this register

The same part: ハンドル

39 notices in this register name ハンドル. A defect that keeps returning under one heading is worth reading as a group rather than one notice at a time.

Reading this against the source

This page is what MLIT published in the recall notices it publishes, kept as it was read. The authority publishes only its current wording; if a notice is rewritten, the earlier version disappears there and is kept here. The whole register is at /japan, and how the reading is done is set out in the method.

This register keeps an index of its own for every maker and every year it holds: Japanese recalls on a BMW: 409 in the register, and 228 Japanese vehicle recall notifications filed in 2000.
