Parts fitted to the vehicle rather than built into it: roof racks, tow bars, steps, trim, floor mats, and equipment added before the vehicle was sold.
The famous example is a floor mat that can trap the accelerator pedal, which is how something sold as an accessory becomes a safety recall. If a notice under this heading names a part you had fitted later, the repair still applies to it.
