1972 MODEL COMET AND MAVARICK VEHCILES EQUIPPED WITH ROBBINS CODE R536 STANDARD SEAT BELT ASSEMBLIES. THE SEAT BELTS DO NOT FIT AROUND 95TH PERCENTILE MALE OCCUPANTS, AS REQUIRED BY LAW AND BECAUSE THE SHORT SEAT BELTS PREVENT AND IMPEDE SEAT BELT USAGE, EVEN AMONG SMALLER INDIVIDUALS WHO FIND THE SEAT BELT UNCOMFORTABLY TIGHT, THEREBY INCREASING THE RISK TO VEHICLE OCCUPANTS OF DEATHS AND INJURIES RESULTING FROM VEHICLE ACCIDENTS.
Transport Canada recorded this notice in capitals, as its system did for many years. It is reproduced here exactly as published.
The wording above is the department's own, as it stood in the monthly file this site last read. Vehicle counts are the sum of the counts published for each make and model the recall covers. To act on a recall, use the official notice: Transport Canada recall 1975007.
