VEHICLES WERE ASSEMBLED WITH INADEQUATE CLAMP LOAD ON THE TIE ROD ADJUSTER. THIS WOULD ALLOW THE TIE ROD TO LOOSEN AND SEPARATE FROM THE TIE ROD ADJUSTER. TIE ROD SEPARATION COULD CAUSE A LOSS OF STEERING CONTROL WHICH COULD RESULT IN A VEHICLE CRASH WITHOUT PRIOR WARNING.

Transport Canada recorded this notice in capitals, as its system did for many years. It is reproduced here exactly as published.

The wording above is the department's own, as it stood in the monthly file this site last read. Vehicle counts are the sum of the counts published for each make and model the recall covers. To act on a recall, use the official notice: Transport Canada recall 1984121.
