THESE TRAILERS ARE EQUIPPED WITH CHALMERS MODEL 700 TANDEM SUSPENSIONS INCORPORATING EIGHT TORQUE RODS (FOUR PER AXLE). THE BOLTS AND THE NUTS ATTACHING THE TORQUE RODS MAY HAVE BEEN TIGHTENED INADEQUATELY AND MAY WORK LOOSE IN SERVICE. IF THIS HAPPENS, THE TORQUE RODS WOULD NO LONGER CONTROL THE ALIGNMENT OF THE AXLE. IF SOME TORQUE RODS BECOME DETACHED,AN AXLE MAY BECOME DETACHED OR INSECURELY ATTACHED TO THE TRAILER. LOSS OF ALIGNMENT AND PARTIAL OR COMPLETE AXLE DETACH MENT COULD CAUSE LOSS OF VEHICLE CONTROL AND POSSIBLE CRASH.

Transport Canada recorded this notice in capitals, as its system did for many years. It is reproduced here exactly as published.

The wording above is the department's own, as it stood in the monthly file this site last read. Vehicle counts are the sum of the counts published for each make and model the recall covers. To act on a recall, use the official notice: Transport Canada recall 1985067.
