VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH A TRANSMISSION MOUNTED INTERNAL EXPANDING TYPE PARKING BRAKE MAY HAVE A CRACKED PARKING BRAKE ACTUATING LEVER CAM. UNDER NORMAL OPERATING CONDITIONS, IN TIME, THE CRACK CAN GRADUALLY WIDEN, REDUCING THE FORCE OF THE PARKING BRAKE. THE WIDENING OF THE CRACK CAN ALSO OCCUR WHEN THE PARKING BRAKE IS APPLIED. IF THIS SHOULD HAPPEN TO AN UNATTENDED VEHICLE, IT COULD ROLL AWAY UNCONTROLLED.

Transport Canada recorded this notice in capitals, as its system did for many years. It is reproduced here exactly as published.

The wording above is the department's own, as it stood in the monthly file this site last read. Vehicle counts are the sum of the counts published for each make and model the recall covers. To act on a recall, use the official notice: Transport Canada recall 1986039.
