Lincoln CONTINENTAL in the other registers
This site holds seven national and European registers. Lincoln CONTINENTAL is named on 2 American notices. Those are separate campaigns, filed with separate authorities on their own schedules.
The American register
Nothing here says any of these is this notice in another country. A model recalled in one country is often recalled in another, in different words and at a different time, and the authorities do not cross-reference each other. Reading them together is the reason this site holds more than one register.

THIS RECALL COVERS TWO DEFECTS. (1) A NYLON SHIELDED WIRING HARNESS LOCATED IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT MAY EXPERIENCE MELTING OF THE NYLON SHIELD DURING EXTREME VEHICLE OPERATING CONDITIONS IN 100 PLUS DEGREE (FARENHEIT) WEATHER. MELTED NYLON COULD DROP ON THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD AND RESULT IN AN UNDERHOOD FIRE. CORRECTION: WIRING HARNESS WILL BE WRAPPED WITH A HEAT RESISTANT FIBERGLASS TAPE. (2) AN ELECTRICAL WIRE TO THE IGNITION SWITCH WHICH CONTROLS POWER TO THE BRAKE PUMP MOTOR MAY OVERHEAT AND TEMPORARILY LOSE CONTACT WITH THE SWITCH TERMINAL. SHOULD THIS OCCUR WHILE THE CAR IS BEING OPERATED, THE BRAKE PUMP MOTOR WILL STOP RUNNING BUT THE CAR WILL STILL BRAKE NORMALLY ONE TO FIVE TIMES AFTER THE RED WARNING LIGHT COMES ON AND BEFORE REAR BRAKE FUNCTION AND POWER ASSIST TO THE FRONT BRAKES IS LOST. BECAUSE OF THE DECREASE IN BRAKING ABILITY, A VEHICLE CRASH COULD RESULT.
CORRECTION: IGNITION SWITCH AND CONNECTOR ASSEMBLY WILL BE REPLACED WITH ONES INCORPORATING MODIFIED ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS.
Transport Canada recorded this notice in capitals, as its system did for many years. It is reproduced here exactly as published.
The wording above is the department's own, as it stood in the monthly file this site last read. Vehicle counts are the sum of the counts published for each make and model the recall covers. To act on a recall, use the official notice: Transport Canada recall 1988110.

Reading this against the source
This page is what Transport Canada published in the Vehicle Recalls Database, kept as it was read. The authority publishes only its current wording; if a notice is rewritten, the earlier version disappears there and is kept here. The whole register is at /canada, and how the reading is done is set out in the method.
What the words on this notice mean — the system it is filed under, and what the filing type says about who found the fault.
This notice names one vehicle among several registers that have written about it. Every notice this site holds for the Lincoln Continental, in all seven, is kept on that vehicle's own page, with the newest in each.
This register keeps an index of its own for every maker and every year it holds: Canadian recalls on a Lincoln: 288 in the register, and 174 Canadian vehicle recalls filed in 1988.
