ON TRUCKS EQUIPPED WITH 3-POINT SEAT BELTS AND BOSTROM SMARTSEATS, ABRADING OF THE SEAT BELT WEBBING MAY OCCUR AT THE D-RING WHEN THE SEAT BELTS ARE NOT WORN. THIS ABRADING IS DUE TO THE UNDER DAMPED RIDE OF THE BOSTROM SMARTSEATS AND A TENDENCY FOR THE WEBBING TO BUNCH-UP AT THE D-RING IF THE D-RING DOES NOT SWIVEL FREELY. ABRADING OF THE SEAT BELT WEBBING CAN REDUCE ITS STRENGTH AND IN A COLLISION SITUATION INCREASE THE RISK OF INJURY. rnCORRECTION: A STIFFER BOSTROM SMARTSEAT SHOCK ABSORBER AND DIFFERENT D-RING FASTENERS ARE BEING EVALUATED. THE SEAT BELT WEBBING WILL BE INSPECTED AND REPLACED WHERE NECESSARY.

The wording above is the department's own, as it stood in the monthly file this site last read. Vehicle counts are the sum of the counts published for each make and model the recall covers. To act on a recall, use the official notice: Transport Canada recall 1989037.
