ON 4X4 VEHICLES, THE FRONT WHEEL BEARING ADJUSTING NUT RETAINING KEYS MAY HAVE BEEN OMITTED. IF THE KEY IS MISSING, THE LEFT FRONT WHEEL BEARING NUT MAY LOOSEN. THIS COULD LEAD TO WHEEL BEARING NOISE AND POSSIBLE DETACHMENT OF THE WHEEL AND HUB ASSEMBLY FROM THE AXLE AND COULD RESULT IN LOSS OF VEHICLE CONTROL. CORRECTION: LEFT FRONT WHEEL HUB ASSEMBLIES WILL BE INSPECTED AND MISSING RETAINING KEYS WILL BE INSTALLED IF NECESSARY.

Transport Canada recorded this notice in capitals, as its system did for many years. It is reproduced here exactly as published.

The wording above is the department's own, as it stood in the monthly file this site last read. Vehicle counts are the sum of the counts published for each make and model the recall covers. To act on a recall, use the official notice: Transport Canada recall 1989097.
