THESE VEHICLES DO NOT COMPLY WITH C.M.V.S.S. 219 - WINDSHIELD ZONE INTRUSION. THE HOOD HINGE PIVOT BOLTS MAY BREAK CAUSING EITHER CORNER OF THE HOOD NEAR THE WINDSHIELD TO RAISE, OR ONE SIDE OF THE HOOD TO BE UNSTABLE WHEN OPENED. IN THE EVENT OF A VEHICLE CRASH, A HOOD EXHIBITING THIS CONDITION COULD BE PUSHED BACK THROUGH THE WINDSHIELD GLASS, INCREASING THE RISK OF OCCUPANT INJURY.rnCORRECTION: DEALERS WILL REPLACE BOTH HOOD HINGE PIVOT BOLTS ON ALL INVOLVED VEHICLES.
The wording above is the department's own, as it stood in the monthly file this site last read. Vehicle counts are the sum of the counts published for each make and model the recall covers. To act on a recall, use the official notice: Transport Canada recall 1998011.
