NOTE: MOTORHOMES BUILT ON CHEVROLET/GMC AND FORD CHASSIS.rnTHESE MOTORHOMES WERE EQUIPPED WITH ELECTRICAL WIRING WHICH WAS NOT PROPERLY INSTALLED. THE IMPROPER INSTALLATION INVOLVES A POTENTIAL FOR FIRE WITH THE SOURCE BEING THE BATTERY CABLE AND REDUCED VISIBILITY DUE TO LOSS OF HEADLAMP LIGHTING. ALSO, ON CHEVROLET/GMC EQUIPPED UNITS, THERE IS THE POTENTIAL FOR COLLISION RESULTING FROM A LOSS OF POWER ASSISTED BRAKES AND STEERING WHEN THE ENGINE SHUTS OFF. rnCORRECTION: BATTERY CABLES AND ELECTRICAL HARNESSES WILL BE RELOCATED AND SECURED AWAY FROM THE RADIATOR AND OIL COOLER. CHASSIS DISCONNECT WIRE WILL BE REPLACED WITH A HEAVIER GAUGE WIRE. WIRING HARNESSES WILL BE RE-SECURED WHERE THEY ATTACH TO THE HEAD LIGHTS, PARK AND SIDE MARKER LIGHTS.

The wording above is the department's own, as it stood in the monthly file this site last read. Vehicle counts are the sum of the counts published for each make and model the recall covers. To act on a recall, use the official notice: Transport Canada recall 1998083.
