Certain vehicles do not comply with the requirements of CMVSS 301 - Fuel System Integrity. The generator fuel pickup fitting is not sealing properly against the tank wall, and when the tank is full, fuel or fuel vapours can leak out. Correction: The self tapping fuel pickup will be replaced with a new one with a regular thread fitting secured to the tank with a lock nut inside the tank. The fuel sending unit tank opening will be used as an access hole to fasten the fitting and gasoline resistant sealant will be used for sealing.
The wording above is the department's own, as it stood in the monthly file this site last read. Vehicle counts are the sum of the counts published for each make and model the recall covers. To act on a recall, use the official notice: Transport Canada recall 2000026.
