On certain vehicles equipped with both left-hand and right-hand drive positions, the pinch bolt that secures the lower steering shaft connection to the left-hand mitre box may have been improperly tightened during vehicle assembly. A loose joint could allow the steering shaft to separate from the mitre box, causing a loss of steering control that could result in a crash. Correction: Dealers will inspect and, if loose, replace the lower steering shaft pinch bolt.
The wording above is the department's own, as it stood in the monthly file this site last read. Vehicle counts are the sum of the counts published for each make and model the recall covers. To act on a recall, use the official notice: Transport Canada recall 2005371.
