On certain vehicles equipped with a gasoline generator, if the battery in the Carbon Monoxide (CO) detector goes dead or is removed, the detector will not function and therefore cannot warn occupants if CO levels reach a harmful level. Correction: Dealers will install a hard wired 12 volt CO detector in the vehicle. This will ensure the CO detector will have voltage supplied for proper operation when the generator is running.
The wording above is the department's own, as it stood in the monthly file this site last read. Vehicle counts are the sum of the counts published for each make and model the recall covers. To act on a recall, use the official notice: Transport Canada recall 2006142.
