Certain vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of CMVSS 1201 - Snowmobile Standards. The noise level is too high under acceleration, or when travelling at a constant rate of speed. Prolonged exposure to high noise levels could promote hearing damage leading to permanent hearing loss. Correction: Dealers will install an accelerator travel limiter which, by reducing engine speed, will lower noise levels below those prescribed by the Standard.
