Certain vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of CMVSS 1201 - Snowmobile Standards. The noise level is too high under acceleration, or when travelling at a constant rate of speed. Prolonged exposure to high noise levels could promote hearing damage leading to permanent hearing loss. Correction: Dealers will install an accelerator travel limiter which, by reducing engine speed, will lower noise levels. In addition, restrictions to the muffler's inlet and outlet will be installed, as well as an underhood insulation kit.
The wording above is the department's own, as it stood in the monthly file this site last read. Vehicle counts are the sum of the counts published for each make and model the recall covers. To act on a recall, use the official notice: Transport Canada recall 2009045.
