On certain vehicles, the fasteners securing the steering shaft positioning bracket may not have been tightened to the proper torque specification. If the fasteners are not properly tightened, they may loosen over time and the steering column may begin to rattle. If the condition is not repaired, the fasteners could come out completely. This may result in noticeable steering column movement, which may affect the ability to steer the vehicle, resulting in the possibility of a crash causing property damage, personal injury or death. Correction: Dealers will inspect the steering column and torque the fasteners to specification.

The wording above is the department's own, as it stood in the monthly file this site last read. Vehicle counts are the sum of the counts published for each make and model the recall covers. To act on a recall, use the official notice: Transport Canada recall 2010086.
