On certain trailers, the bracket that secures the axle to the mainframe rails may have been manufactured with inadequate metal gauge. Over time and specific configuration and design, stress, torque, and metal fatigue, can cause the metal bracket to crack and fail, which could result in separation of the axle from the trailer. This could result in a vehicle crash causing property damage, personal injury or death. Correction: Dealers will weld each axle bracket directly to the frame.
The wording above is the department's own, as it stood in the monthly file this site last read. Vehicle counts are the sum of the counts published for each make and model the recall covers. To act on a recall, use the official notice: Transport Canada recall 2010141.
