On certain vehicles, the specified nominal volume of 2.1L (71 oz) of lube oil in the rear axle may not prove sufficient. As such the vehicle could experience a noise (growl, grind) from the rear axle bearing, which could eventually seize. This could result in a crash causing property damage and/or personal injury. Correction: Dealers will install a rear axle pinion bearing fluid drain-back flow restrictor and a new axle cover with a revised fluid fill level access hole.
The wording above is the department's own, as it stood in the monthly file this site last read. Vehicle counts are the sum of the counts published for each make and model the recall covers. To act on a recall, use the official notice: Transport Canada recall 2010466.
