On certain vehicles, an inspection panel located above the driveshaft, in the passenger compartment flooring, may not be of sufficient strength to prevent foreign matter from entering the passenger area in the event of a driveshaft failure. Although New Flyer previously attempted to remedy this problem by installed energy absorbing honeycomb material to the underside of the access panel, this fix was inadequate. Failure of the driveshaft access panel to maintain passenger compartment integrity could result in personal injury to vehicle occupants. Correction: Dealers will remove the energy absorbing material from the access panel and install a steel plate. Note: This recall supersedes recall 2010056. Vehicles that were repaired under the previous campaign will also need to be repaired under this campaign.
The wording above is the department's own, as it stood in the monthly file this site last read. Vehicle counts are the sum of the counts published for each make and model the recall covers. To act on a recall, use the official notice: Transport Canada recall 2012431.
