Transport Canada carries this recall as 2016079, dated 18 February 2016. The American register carries the same defect as campaign 16V099, dated 19 February 2016. They are the same defect because the manufacturer filed both under one internal campaign code, SC0399.

The two registers are 1 day apart: the Canadian entry is dated first, the American one second.

These are the dates each register records against its own notice. They are separate administrative acts in two countries, recorded by two authorities under two sets of rules, and this page does not claim that one caused the other or that owners in either country were contacted on those days. What it shows is that the same manufacturer campaign reached the two registers on different dates.

Read the American notice 16V099, including every earlier version of its wording this site holds. The Canadian register explains why the manufacturer code is published there and what that makes possible. Canada and America sets every matched pair side by side.

On certain vehicles, the cap nut that retains the interaxle driveshaft yoke to the rear axle input shaft may prematurely loosen. If the nut were to loosen and come off, the yoke could separate from the axle input shaft and cause the drive shaft to disconnect. A disconnected drive shaft would result in a loss of motive power, and create a road hazard, both of which could increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will replace the cap nut, and inspect the threads on the input shaft. If the threads are damaged, the input shaft will be replaced.

The wording above is the department's own, as it stood in the monthly file this site last read. Vehicle counts are the sum of the counts published for each make and model the recall covers. To act on a recall, use the official notice: Transport Canada recall 2016079.
