On certain vehicles, the driver side floor mat anchors could break over time which could allow the floor mat to slide forward and potentially allowing the accelerator to become stuck in the wide open position. A fully depressed accelerator pedal may result in very high vehicle speeds and make it difficult to slow or stop the vehicle. This could result in a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will replace the driver side floor mat and possibly the accelerator pedal cover.
The wording above is the department's own, as it stood in the monthly file this site last read. Vehicle counts are the sum of the counts published for each make and model the recall covers. To act on a recall, use the official notice: Transport Canada recall 2016097.
