Transport Canada carries this recall as 2016374, dated 26 July 2016. The American register carries the same defect as campaign 15V846, dated 16 December 2015. They are the same defect because the manufacturer filed both under one internal campaign code, RA010021.

The two registers are 223 days apart: the American entry is dated first, the Canadian one second.

These are the dates each register records against its own notice. They are separate administrative acts in two countries, recorded by two authorities under two sets of rules, and this page does not claim that one caused the other or that owners in either country were contacted on those days. What it shows is that the same manufacturer campaign reached the two registers on different dates.

Read the American notice 15V846, including every earlier version of its wording this site holds. The Canadian register explains why the manufacturer code is published there and what that makes possible. Canada and America sets every matched pair side by side.

Certain vehicles fail to conform to Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 206 u2013 Door Lock and Door Retention Components. These vehicles have a double locking feature that will not let the doors be opened by an occupant inside the vehicle unless the unlock button is pressed on the vehicle key. As a result, occupants may be at a greater risk of being locked in the vehicle in an emergency situation. Correction: Dealers will update the vehicleu2019s software to disable the double locking feature.

The wording above is the department's own, as it stood in the monthly file this site last read. Vehicle counts are the sum of the counts published for each make and model the recall covers. To act on a recall, use the official notice: Transport Canada recall 2016374.
