On certain motorcycles, the engine control unit software which regulates the idle speed may have been incorrectly programmed. As a result, if the clutch lever is engaged, the throttle is closed and the engine is operating at idle, the engine may stall. An engine stall could lead to a loss of stability of the motorcycle, which could increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or property damage. Correction: Dealers will update the engine control unit software. Note: This recall supersedes recall 2015-378. Motorcycles repaired under the previous recall will require re-inspection and repair.
The wording above is the department's own, as it stood in the monthly file this site last read. Vehicle counts are the sum of the counts published for each make and model the recall covers. To act on a recall, use the official notice: Transport Canada recall 2016478.
