Transport Canada carries this recall as 2016520, dated 24 October 2016. The American register carries the same defect as campaign 16V755, dated 19 October 2016. They are the same defect because the manufacturer filed both under one internal campaign code, T1606.

The two registers are 5 days apart: the American entry is dated first, the Canadian one second.

These are the dates each register records against its own notice. They are separate administrative acts in two countries, recorded by two authorities under two sets of rules, and this page does not claim that one caused the other or that owners in either country were contacted on those days. What it shows is that the same manufacturer campaign reached the two registers on different dates.

Read the American notice 16V755, including every earlier version of its wording this site holds. The Canadian register explains why the manufacturer code is published there and what that makes possible. Canada and America sets every matched pair side by side.

On certain vehicles, due to a defect in manufacturing, the rear swing arm may not meet strength specifications. This could result in the potential for the swing arm to fracture if the vehicle were to strike a pothole, or be subjected to a severe event, which could result in a a loss of control and a loss of propulsion which, in conjunction with traffic and road conditions, and the driver's reactions, could increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or property damage. Correction: Dealers will replace the rear swing arm with a swing arm with a stronger geometry.

The wording above is the department's own, as it stood in the monthly file this site last read. Vehicle counts are the sum of the counts published for each make and model the recall covers. To act on a recall, use the official notice: Transport Canada recall 2016520.
