On certain street sweeper vehicles, cracks may form around the tipping hinges. If left unchecked, cracks around the tipping hinges could result in the hopper detaching from the chassis, particularly if the sweeper is overloaded. If the hopper were to detach from chassis, it could possibly strike the operator or bystander, causing injury and/or property damage. Correction: Dealers will inspect around the tipping brackets for damage or cracking, and will install a reaction beam to increase the torsional stiffness of the body and stabilize the tipping pivot brackets.

The wording above is the department's own, as it stood in the monthly file this site last read. Vehicle counts are the sum of the counts published for each make and model the recall covers. To act on a recall, use the official notice: Transport Canada recall 2016533.
