On certain buses, the latching mechanism of the driver's seat belt buckle may prevent the tongue of the seat belt from being inserted into the latch assembly. If the seat belt is unable to be latched, and the vehicle is operated without the seat belt fastened, in the event of a crash, the risk of injury to the driver could be increased. Correction: Owners will be advised to inspect the date code of the seat belt buckle, and replacement parts will be supplied as necessary.
The wording above is the department's own, as it stood in the monthly file this site last read. Vehicle counts are the sum of the counts published for each make and model the recall covers. To act on a recall, use the official notice: Transport Canada recall 2017420.
