Transport Canada carries this recall as 2016164, dated 15 April 2016. The American register carries the same defect as campaign 16V223, dated 19 April 2016. They are the same defect because the manufacturer filed both under one internal campaign code, R16005.

The two registers are 4 days apart: the Canadian entry is dated first, the American one second.

These are the dates each register records against its own notice. They are separate administrative acts in two countries, recorded by two authorities under two sets of rules, and this page does not claim that one caused the other or that owners in either country were contacted on those days. What it shows is that the same manufacturer campaign reached the two registers on different dates.

Read the American notice 16V223, including every earlier version of its wording this site holds. The Canadian register explains why the manufacturer code is published there and what that makes possible. Canada and America sets every matched pair side by side.

On certain buses, the software for the Electric Transit Operator (ETO) control module which controls the rear passenger exit door may contain an error. This could result in a higher than required output torque from the ETO control module when the door is in a fully open position, which over time may result in a fracture of the rear door roller plate. If the roller plate fails there is a potential for the rear door to open inadvertently while the bus is in motion, which would increase the risk for injury to vehicle occupants, and/or result in damage to property. Correction: Dealers will reprogram the ETO control module, and replace both rear door roller plates with more robust versions.

The wording above is the department's own, as it stood in the monthly file this site last read. Vehicle counts are the sum of the counts published for each make and model the recall covers. To act on a recall, use the official notice: Transport Canada recall 2016164.
