A model recalled in one country is often recalled in another, in different words and at a different time, and the authorities do not cross-reference each other. Reading them together is the reason this site holds more than one register.

Certain vehicles may fail to conform to Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (CMVSS) 135 - Light Vehicle Brake Systems. The electric parking brake (EPB) may not apply or release due to an incorrectly programmed skid control ECU. If this occurs while the vehicle is parked on a grade without being place into the park position and the EPB warnings are ignored, the vehicle may roll away which would increase the risk of injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will update the programming of the skid control ECU.
The wording above is the department's own, as it stood in the monthly file this site last read. Vehicle counts are the sum of the counts published for each make and model the recall covers. To act on a recall, use the official notice: Transport Canada recall 2017559.

Reading this against the source
This page is what Transport Canada published in the Vehicle Recalls Database, kept as it was read. The authority publishes only its current wording; if a notice is rewritten, the earlier version disappears there and is kept here. The whole register is at /canada, and how the reading is done is set out in the method.
What the words on this notice mean — the system it is filed under, and what the filing type says about who found the fault.
This notice names one vehicle among several registers that have written about it. Every notice this site holds for the Toyota C-HR, in all seven, is kept on that vehicle's own page, with the newest in each.
This register keeps an index of its own for every maker and every year it holds: Canadian recalls on a Toyota: 312 in the register, and 638 Canadian vehicle recalls filed in 2017.
