Certain vehicles that have had a driver and/or front passenger seatback pad replaced may not comply with Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (CMVSS) 214 - Side Impact Protection. Certain seatback pads sold as replacement service parts may have been manufactured without a slit opening for the seat mounted side airbags. In the event of a crash warranting deployment of the side airbag(s), the seatback pad would interfere and adversely affect airbag performance, which could increase the risk of injury to the front seated occupant. Correction: Dealers will inspect and replace the front seatback pad(s) as necessary.

The wording above is the department's own, as it stood in the monthly file this site last read. Vehicle counts are the sum of the counts published for each make and model the recall covers. To act on a recall, use the official notice: Transport Canada recall 2018211.
