Certain trailers equipped with steel side rails may not comply with the requirements of Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (CMVSS) 905 - Trailer Cargo Anchoring Devices. Under certain loading conditions, the cargo securing chains hanger bracket could break. If this occurs, the cargo could slide and fall off the trailer, creating a road hazard which would increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will install an aluminum spacers between the tie-down extrusion and the side rail of the trailer.

The wording above is the department's own, as it stood in the monthly file this site last read. Vehicle counts are the sum of the counts published for each make and model the recall covers. To act on a recall, use the official notice: Transport Canada recall 2018382.
