On certain trucks with an ISX15 engine and a 1.9 M cab, the engine wiring harness is missing circuits to allow the illumination of Check (CEL) and Stop (SEL) Engine Lamps and sounding of the Stop Engine Alarm. A failure to notify the operator of a serious engine problem may result in an engine failure without warning, and loss of motive power while the vehicle is in motion, which could increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or property damage. Correction: Dealers will inspect and/or test the engine harness for the missing circuits, and if found missing, an overlay jumper harness will be installed.
The wording above is the department's own, as it stood in the monthly file this site last read. Vehicle counts are the sum of the counts published for each make and model the recall covers. To act on a recall, use the official notice: Transport Canada recall 2018442.
