Issue: rnOn certain vehicles, the rear driveshaft joint may have been built without grease. As a result, the joint could fail and cause the driveshaft to detach from the vehicle. If the vehicle was in rear-wheel drive mode, this would cause a loss of power to the drive wheels. rn rnSafety Risk: rnA loss of power to the drive wheels could increase the risk of a crash. Additionally, a driveshaft that separates from the vehicle could create a hazard for other drivers and nearby people.rn rnCorrective Actions: rnThe company will notify owners by mail and instruct them to take their vehicle to a dealer to inspect the rear driveshaft constant-velocity joint and replace the driveshaft if required.

The wording above is the department's own, as it stood in the monthly file this site last read. Vehicle counts are the sum of the counts published for each make and model the recall covers. To act on a recall, use the official notice: Transport Canada recall 2019438.
