Issue: rnOn certain vans, the seat belt and airbag warning lights will not turn on for approximately 5 seconds after the ignition is switched to the ON or start position. Canadian regulations require these lights to turn on to demonstrate that the airbag system is working properly (bulb check) and to remind a driver to fasten their seat belt. rnrnSafety Risk: rnWarning lights that do not turn on during the start-up check could confuse a driver. In addition, the driver would not see a reminder to fasten their seat belt. This could create an increased risk of injury in a crash. rnrnCorrective Actions: rnThe company will notify owners by mail and instruct them to take their vehicle to a dealer to reprogram the instrument panel cluster.

The wording above is the department's own, as it stood in the monthly file this site last read. Vehicle counts are the sum of the counts published for each make and model the recall covers. To act on a recall, use the official notice: Transport Canada recall 2019450.
