Issue: rnOn certain motorcycles, the engine side cover may not be properly machined. As a result, a lack of proper lubrication can result in severe engine damage that could cause the engine to stall or seize. rn rnSafety Risk: rnAn engine that stalls or seizes can cause a loss of control and create the risk of a crash. rn rnCorrective Actions: rnYamaha will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your motorcycle to a dealer to have the crankcase cover inspected by removing the oil filter. If the cover was not properly machined, it must be replaced. Yamaha advises that you should only ride your motorcycle to the dealership to be inspected. You should avoid riding your motorcycle until you can get it to the dealer to have this inspection performed.

The wording above is the department's own, as it stood in the monthly file this site last read. Vehicle counts are the sum of the counts published for each make and model the recall covers. To act on a recall, use the official notice: Transport Canada recall 2020146.
