Issue: rnOn certain Silverado LD and Sierra LD models, the bed-cover could come loose while driving and detach from the truck. This problem affects tri-fold tonneau covers that were factory ordered or sold as an accessory. rnNote: This recall replaces Transport Canada recall 2019-205. Trucks that were repaired under that recall also require this repair.rnrnSafety Risk: rnA tonneau cover that separates from a moving vehicle could create a hazard for other drivers and nearby people. rnrnCorrective Actions: rnGeneral Motors will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your truck to a dealer to replace the tonneau cover rails and clamps. They will also add a tether to prevent the tonneau cover from detaching. For trucks repaired under recall 2019-205, the dealer will confirm that the previous repair was performed correctly. rnNote: Until the recall repairs are completed, you can prevent the chance of the tonneau cover detaching by removing it from your truck and storing it.
The wording above is the department's own, as it stood in the monthly file this site last read. Vehicle counts are the sum of the counts published for each make and model the recall covers. To act on a recall, use the official notice: Transport Canada recall 2020165.
