Issue: rnThis service campaign is for certain replacement rear brake drums that were sold by Mitsubishi dealers. The brake drums may have been made with wheel stud holes that are too large. As a result, a wheel stud could spin when tightening the wheel nut. This can reduce the clamping force between the wheel and the brake drum. If this happens, the wheel may eventually come loose and could separate from the vehicle. rnNote: This service campaign is not being conducted under the requirements of the Motor Vehicle Safety Act. rnrnSafety Risk: rnA wheel that cannot be properly tightened could increase the risk of a wheel separation. This could increase the risk of a crash. A wheel that separates could also hit another person or vehicle. rnrnCorrective Actions: rnMitsubishi will contact owners that may have had these brake drums replaced at a Mitsubishi dealer. They will advise affected owners to take their vehicle to a dealer, who will replace any affected brake drum(s).
