Issue: rnUnder certain conditions, the powertrain control module (PCM) may incorrectly detect a fault in the transmission. If this happens, the reverse camera, reverse lamps, and different driver assistance technologies may not work properly. This includes traction control, forward collision warning, blind spot warning, and cross traffic indicator. rnNote: This recall only affects vehicles equipped with a 5.0 L engine and a manual transmission. rnrnSafety Risk: rnReverse lamps that don't turn on could cause others not to recognize when a vehicle is backing up. A rearview camera image that doesn't display could reduce a driver's ability to see behind the vehicle while backing up. These issues and driver assistance technologies that don't work properly could increase the risk of a crash. rnrnCorrective Actions: rnFord will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealership to update the powertrain control module (PCM) software.
