Issue: rnOn certain plug-in hybrid (PHEV) models, the pedestrian alert siren may be missing or not connected properly. As a result, the vehicle may not make a reverse warning sound when backing up, which doesn't meet the requirements of the Canadian regulations.rn rnSafety Risk: rnA pedestrian alert siren that doesn't work could create an increased risk of injury for other road users. rn rnCorrective Actions: rnFCA will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to inspect and, if necessary, secure or replace the connector for the pedestrian alert siren. If the siren is missing, one will be installed.

The wording above is the department's own, as it stood in the monthly file this site last read. Vehicle counts are the sum of the counts published for each make and model the recall covers. To act on a recall, use the official notice: Transport Canada recall 2023558.
